Hi, this is my problem, i live in Costa Rica and the map isn’t finished at all. I’m always driving for tons of places around the country… I don’t have a specific region in order to ask you to become a region leader (you know what i mean). So everytime I start driving I turn on Waze and click in the truck, then when I finish my route I click again in the truck to finish my record… But I guess I’m doing something wrong because I don’t earn any points and the map isn’t been updated with my routes…
I really want to help with the project, but I need some help about this.

did you have network and gps connection? Routes driven should show up in your dashboard within 24-48 hours after sending. To have the roads appear in the live map you (or someone else who has driven there) will have to edit the recorded roads (kind of road, name, city it belongs to, direction allowed etc.). This has to be done in Cartouche, the web map editor which you can reach from your dashboard. Sometimes you will even have to convert a recorded track to a road (waze servers do this when “record new road” is activated but only if the record has enough gps quality).
As you are not getting any points (which you would get even if “only” driving and not doing map edits) I suppose something is wrong with the data transfer between your client and waze.
[Edit] Just had a look at the map in Costa Rica and while it may not be finished there really is a lot of mapping done already…
Soy un poco nuevo en esto y quisiera ver si los que ya han estado mas tiempo en esto me podrian ayudar.
Hace poco puse unos puntos de interes en el area de “actualizar mapa” pero a la hora de navegar con mi celular por estos puntos no aparecen en mi mapa. La pregunta es, hay alguien que los tenga que aceptar? o sera que los habre puesto mal?
Y la otra seria, si alguien sabe como obtener permisos para poner modificar una camunidad ya que me gustaria desarrollar lo mas que pueda mi comunidad y luego de eso si se pudiera seguir con el resto de comunidades aledañas.
De antemano les agradezco cualquier ayuda que me puedan brindar, y saludos desde la bella Costa Rica!
Otra pregunta, cuando yo “pavimento” calles desde mi celular, a la hora de terminar los otros wazer’s pueden verlas o necesariamente tengo que editarlas???

In fact i have my gps working fine, and I dont think it can be a problem of conexion between my client and the server, because I can see where I am in the waze map, and also i can see when my car is moving…
The problem here is that I thought that the routes are uploaded to the server, without needing to look for my routes, and editing the names of the streets (just to know… I dont have idea about the name of some of the places where I drive).
I guess it would be nice to upload the road when you drove on it, and then some other users may help in labeling the streets…
Well, that’s the way it can work too. If you drive new roads with “record new roads” active, these roads will appear in the map (the update map to be edited by you or other users, not in the live map where they need to have been edited). Sometime not all roads will be there because the waze servers do automatically convert only recorded tracks with sufficient quality. Others can be converted by you by clicking on the coloured lines appearing in the update map after you have choosen the track in your dashboard or the archive in the web editor (Cartouche).
There are a lot of people just driving and others doing the editing…
But: Please leave “record new roads” only active when driving roads not existing in waze. Otherwise you will produce lots of double roads to be deleted by angry area managers
Bueno gente inicia el mejor programa que podemos tener para nadie es un secreto que tenemos las calles congestionadas y varios programas de radio como ZOOM Y AQ ASI COMO LA PAGINA RUTA ALTERNA se dedican a esto mismo a informarnos creo que estA forma de enviarnos reportes es otra opcion mas para poder lidiar con el trafico de este pais que es un trafico tragico.
Bueno gente este tema es nuestro los espero para iniciar nuestro espacio de la experiencia WAZE.
Me parece excelente este programa.Le falta un poco dar mejor las direcciones, pero esperemos que aprenda rápido las complicadas calles de nuestro paíz.
Lo que se ocupa es que un poco mas de gente pueda de vez en cuando completar y corregir el mapa. Para eso solo hay que meterse al web a la parte de edición. De hecho si envias el mail solicitando ser area manager de una zona que conoces bien esa gente te contesta rapido y te lo aprueba, y así puedes corregir y completar las calles y sobre todo los cruces (que es en lo que se basa la selección de rutas).
Espero que más gente le entre a eso, conforme el mapa se vaya completando esta vara agarra mas fuerza, sobre todo con la información de choques, presas y traficos…
Buenas gente, para ser un tema sobre Costa Rica en este foro me parece que esta muy olvidado.
Yo conozco bien la zona central de Grecia, en Alajuela, he realizado algunos cambios en la edición de los mapas, pero hay puntos de interés que no están correctos, pero no tengo privilegios para borrar. Como podría tener ese acceso? A quien se le envía el correo para ser “area manager”?
Póngale atención a las intersecciones y hacia donde hay conectividad, ya que de nada sirven las calles si no hay conectividad, o si esta mal entonces las rutas van a salir mal. Para ver la conectividad ayuda tener el check de “Highlight connectivity” en el “ViewPanel”.
Cuando salga del centro (donde la imagen de satelite es mala) lleve el waze puesto y luego en la sección de “archive” (también en el “ViewPanel”) le va a salir la ruta que hizo y con eso puede luego identificar la calle con el nombre y número de ruta según los links.
Entre mas gente ayude a completar el mapa de CR mejor se pueden ubicar luego los reportes de la gente y empieza a funcionar mejor las rutas…
No, waze no funciona en ese dispositivo porque carece tanto de 3G como de GPS, requisitos indispensables para que waze pueda funcionar. Si tienes algún otro smartphone, dinos y te diremos si es compatible.
