Formal complaint regarding unjust treatment and lack of due process in Waze Community Management

Dear Community Leaders,

I am writing to formally express my profound disappointment and frustration regarding the handling of my case as a Waze map editor and my demotion from L4 and CM status in Romania.

Over the past six months, I have been subjected to a series of decisions and actions that lack transparency, fairness, and any semblance of due process. This letter serves as a detailed account of the issues I have faced, the inadequacies in the responses I have received, and my request for your urgent intervention in what I perceive to be a serious breach of Waze’s principles of community and fairness.

I have been an active and dedicated contributor to the Waze map, consistently striving to improve the map in Romania. My efforts and commitment were recognized when I was granted L4 and CM status, roles I fulfilled with diligence. However, I was abruptly and without sufficient explanation demoted, and my CM status was revoked. Since then, I have repeatedly sought clarity and justification, only to be met with superficial responses or outright dismissal.

Despite multiple attempts to seek an explanation, I have never been provided with concrete evidence or detailed reasons for my demotion. The lack of transparency is not only disheartening but also indicative of a flawed decision-making process.

My case has been handled with minimal effort or consideration by the Community Manager. Shira’s responses have been dismissive and devoid of substance, failing to address my legitimate concerns or offer any pathway for resolution. This level of engagement is unacceptable for a position of such responsibility.

For six months, my attempts to engage in dialogue and seek fairness have been ignored. This prolonged neglect has left me feeling excluded and undervalued, despite my contributions to the Waze community.

I have reason to believe that my demotion was influenced by baseless accusations stemming from events that occurred over two years ago. These alleged incidents, even if true, should not justify the severe measures taken, especially without proper investigation or the opportunity for me to defend myself. Additionally, I believe that my critical stance on certain internal matters, such as unmerited promotions within the community, played a role in my unfair treatment.

I respectfully request your immediate attention to the following:

Provide a comprehensive account of the reasons behind my demotion and CM revocation, supported by evidence and an acknowledgment of the flawed process.
Conduct a fair and transparent review of my contributions and the decisions made, involving impartial parties if necessary.
Address the superficial handling of my case by @shirapashu , @spookyx and @dacianova and ensure that future issues are dealt with appropriately and respectfully.

If no valid justification is found for my demotion, I request the restoration of my L4 and CM status.

10 days have passed, and not even a reply.

What a great way to show that the community members matter, right?
No response from the L6 editors either, yet they’re the first to book free flights and attend meetups.

It makes me wonder if anyone at Waze truly cares anymore.

Disappointing.
