With the increasing popularity of plug-in electric vehicles, providing accessible EV charging stations is crucial, particularly considering existing infrastructure limitations. These guidelines will help us deliver a consistent experience for Wazers who drive or operate EVs.

Mapping Instructions
When reviewing EV charging station updates, don’t just approve them. Take the time to verify that all fields in both the General and More info tabs are complete.
Additionally, ensure that the mapping standards outlined on this wiki page have been correctly applied to each EVCS location. Only reject an EVCS update request if the charging station doesn’t physically exist or is permanently closed.
For all other issues, please approve the update and then edit the incorrect details.
To help us track the roll out of EVCS in Nepal, use the following form to update the Google Sheet to indicate it was added. Kindly verify the station name entry in the Google Sheet to avoid duplicate entries.

EVCS Mapping Standards
Placement
To ensure drivers are navigated directly to the EV chargers, position the station marker on the map as accurately as possible over their physical location. Consider mapping internal parking lot roads to facilitate this final approach.
Naming
EV charging stations can be categorized as either “networked” or “non-networked.” Networked stations belong to a national or regional network, while non-networked stations operate independently.
Networked Charging Stations
Primary Name Format
The naming convention for networked charging stations is as follows:
-
The primary name must begin with the network name.
-
Optionally, a location name can be added after the network name.
-
If a location name is included, it must be separated from the network name by a hyphen.
Alternative Names
Add “EV Charging Station” as an alternate name to all EV charging stations.
Non-networked Charging Stations
Primary Name Format
For non-networked charging stations, use the following naming format:
-
If the charging station has name, use the name as primary name.
-
If a location name is available, the name should be “Charging Station - [Location Name]”.
-
If there is no specific name or associated place, simply name it “Charging Station”.
Details
Price
A charging station should be marked as Paid if the typical driver needs to pay to charge. This includes situations like:
-
Commercial parking facilities, even if you pay a single fee that covers both parking and charging.
-
Paid DC fast chargers, even if some drivers have vehicle-specific free charging plans.
-
Use Free when the average driver can charge without incurring any cost.
Payment Methods
Please list all accepted payment methods for this charging station. Specify:
-
App: If users can initiate and pay for charging via a mobile app (e.g., from the App Store or Play Store).
-
Credit Card / Debit Card: If users can directly pay with a credit or debit card without needing an app or web browser.
-
Membership Card: If a membership card (physical or digital wallet) from the charging network can be used for payment and to start charging.
-
Online Payment: If users can initiate and pay online without downloading a specific app.
-
Plug-in Autocharge: If charging and payment begin automatically upon plugging in the vehicle, without any further action.
-
Other: For any payment methods not listed above, such as cash (e.g., at a parking garage), valet services, or payment via a customer service call.
Lock
Charging stations should be locked at a minimum of Level 3.
Plugs
Below are the common plugs used in Nepal:
CCS2: The European equivalent to CCS1, combining DC fast charging pins with a Type 2 plug instead of J1772.
GB/T: The standard plug type in China and not used in the United States.
Type 2 (Mennekes): The European standard for AC charging, similar in function to the North American J1772 but with a different connector.
Access Type
EV charging stations have varying levels of accessibility: public, restricted, or private.
Public: These charging stations are open for use by anyone. Examples include those found at shopping centers, public parking lots, or garages.
Restricted: These chargers are accessible to the public but under specific conditions or during certain times. For instance, a restaurant might offer charging exclusively to its patrons while they are dining, or a hotel might provide chargers only for registered guests.
Private: These charging stations are primarily intended for specific individuals or groups. This category includes chargers at private residences, apartment complexes (for residents), and workplaces (for employees and their visitors). Even home chargers shared through online “plug sharing” networks, if not openly available to the general public, are considered private.
Website, Phone, Services, Open hours
Just like with any other point of interest, please provide the website (URL), phone number, available services, and operating hours for the charging station. This helps drivers avoid arriving when the station is closed, especially late at night. Utilizing WMEPH can assist in maintaining consistent naming and information. If a customer service phone number exists (for example, for the charging network or parking facility), please use that number.
