FAQs Frequently Asked Questions
How does Waze Carpool work?
To drive, download and open Waze, and tap the icon in the bottom right corner. You’ll match with riders on your route and can offer a ride. To ride in a carpool, download and open the Waze Carpool app and request a ride from a driver going your way.
Who will you carpool with?
Commuters in your area who use Waze and Waze Carpool for their daily route. Your matches are based on criteria like route, how much time they’ll add to your drive, and walking distance (if you’re a rider). More personalized than rideshare services, you can filter Carpool options based on groups of people you know, gender, and workplace.
How does payment work?
Unlike rideshare services, prices are set to reimburse drivers for gas and other ride-related costs, not for profit. Payment is securely handled through the app, so there’s no awkwardness of a cash transaction.
Can drivers pick up more than one rider?
Yes, Waze Carpool allows up to 5 Wazers (1 driver and 4 riders) to share a ride. After the pick-up and drop-off points are set, other riders can join the carpool along that same route.
